Can I monetize StoryShort videos on YouTube?

Updated

Short answer

Yes. The videos you make are yours, and YouTube pays for AI-made videos that are original and give viewers something. YouTube does not pay for mass-produced, repetitive videos, and it asks for an AI label on realistic AI scenes.

What YouTube asks

YouTube does not ban AI tools. Its rules target what the video gives the viewer. In 2026, YouTube does not pay for:

  • Similar videos with little variation, or videos made from generic AI templates.
  • Random AI clips put together to shock.
  • AI "experts" who give health, legal, money or political advice.
  • Other people's content reused without a real change.

Its spam policy also forbids using AI to post many similar videos with small changes. This can lead to strikes, not only lost income.

How to stay monetized with StoryShort

  • Give each video its own topic, story or argument.
  • Check the facts in your scripts.
  • Change the music and the look between videos.
  • Keep a pace you can review.
  • Add the AI label in YouTube Studio when a scene looks real.

Requirements to join the YouTube Partner Program

Today you need 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. From February 1, 2027, new applicants need 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views.
